Gun safety, particularly if there are children in the home of a handgun owner, is a topic of concern for members of every community. Knowing this, Chief Blair Myhand of the Hendersonville Police Department contacted Ron Kauffman, president of STAND T.A.L.L. with a request for his personnel.
Chief Myhand asked if STAND T.A.L.L. would be willing to provide funding for the purchase of 50 handgun safes for his officers to secure their service firearms when off duty at home.
In December, Mr. Kauffman presented that request to his Board for approval, it was approved, and this past week, 50 new gun safes were delivered to Hendersonville PD for distribution to the HPD officers and personnel that carry service handguns. (See attached photos)
Kauffman, who is also a NC Concealed Carry Instructor said, “Personally, safety is a big part of my classes. Having STAND T.A.L.L. step up to provide these gun safes to the members of the HPD is a “win-win” for our nonprofit, and the HPD. Doing this is part of our Mission to provide funding for unbudgeted items for area law enforcement in the nine western NC counties we currently serve.”
When asked about the donation, Chief Myhand said, “Our partnership with STAND T.A.L.L. has given us a way to be role models for handgun safety in our community. Our officers now have a safe and secure method to store their issued firearms, and we are very grateful for their support.”
