Having current equipment for the active-duty patrol force is an ongoing challenge, and the increasing costs often make it difficult to maintain the inventory under current budgets.
Based on past experience the HCSO knew that STAND T.A.L.L. can be counted upon to provide financial support for local area law enforcement and asked if we could again help by providing three 2-way radios to the department. Fortunately, STAND T.A.L.L. had received a donation that was restricted for equipment to be acquired for the HCSO, so the request was quickly approved and the order placed.
Sheriff Griffin said, “The need for our deputies to stay in constant communication with our call center and other personnel is crucial to their individual safety and to their ability to serve the public. This donation of radio units to the HCSO will provide us the additional capability to communicate thereby assuring the safety of our personnel and the ability to render proper assistance to the public.”
Ron Kauffman, president of the local nonprofit noted that “Law enforcement is critical to the safety and security of all of us. Providing support to law enforcement is our primary Mission. While STAND T.A.L.L. is perhaps best known for our support of the area’s K-9 departments, we do much more, and this is just another example of that.” Kauffman went on to say, “Our goal, with the help and generosity of our residents, is to continue to make a positive difference in our community through our various projects throughout western North Carolina.”
