Our Hugs of Love® program provides area law enforcement departments with new plush stuffed animals to be carried by police officers on patrol. The officers may give the plush toys to comfort those children facing very scary situations that often develop because of a domestic violence or other traumatic event.
Police are often among the first responders to stressful situations that involve children. Having the ability to comfort a child’s fears with a teddy bear or other stuffed animal can help children through these traumatic times.
While some police departments have a similar program, many do not. We are working to contact those departments in western North Carolina and the Upstate of South Carolina to offer to provide every patrol car on their force with a supply of assorted newly purchased stuffed animals in protective bags for them to use during an emergency response for these types of traumatic situations.
